Servicing the Bendix Hydrovac

60. Turn the control valve hydraulic cylinder in the control valve cover so that the bleeder-screw lines up with the bleeder-screw in the large hydraulic slave cylinder at the opposite end of the Hydrovac. The dimension “A” shown in Fig. 26 must be between 15/16” and 1- 1/16”, then tighten the lock nut which holds the control valve hydraulic cylinder in place.

61. Connect the hydraulic jumper line.

62. Connect the vacuum hoses and tighten the hose clamps.

63. Plug the vacuum fitting with a cork to prevent dirt entering the unit before it is installed on the vehicle.

64. Lubricate the power cylinders by injecting l/2 ounce of B-K Vacuum Cylinder Oil into the pipe plug hole in the front cylinder shell, and a like amount of oil into the pipe plug hole in the center plate. Both power cylinders should he similarly lubricated every 20,000 miles of use.

WARNING: Do not use more than 1/2 ounce of oil when oiling the power cylinder .An excess of oil will reach rubber parts and cause deterioration and leaks.

NOTE The H-66-3.3 Hydrovac, Part 372290 (used on Chevrolet) has a hole drilled in the rear power cylinder piston. Also, the vacuum line to the rear cylinder is plugged at the center plate fitting. See illustration Fig 25.
