Some TO parts for reference. Off a tipper I got for parts.

The tipper only had 2 latches, but my 43 cargo has holes for 4 latches. Not sure why.

perhaps someone was trying to stop drafts? or perhaps they fitted some homemade doors ?

I remember somewhere that 2 latches were original production, then a change added the lower two, at that door of the half door.

Not sure when that happened, my guess is between 43 and 44.

I 'd be interested in seeing any photo's you might have of the cab side .while mines a 1945 dated serial # I have no idea of the exact age of the open cab , it has only the two latches one below the door handle area and one in the middle of the bottom of the door like the photo above that tm-9-801 uses

If you look at the pic of the 352 in the upper left corner, you can see the lower door latch. Its centered on the canvas door. So theres the 2 latch setup.. looking for a reference on the single latch.

Check out page 468 of your Tm9-801.

Its describing how to ship a CCKW on a freight car.

Its an open cab, but if you can see a bottom latch, or even a hole for a latch let me know.

The top latch is clearly visible. I don't believe they have been removed for shipping as the mirrors are still attached, as is the windshield. You can see the bolts along the bottom of the half door, but no hole above them for a latch.

Lots of respect for Ranger, but I need to 'fill up' this site.. not others.

He knows about my humble little site.. one day he will grace it with his presence.
