WOOD BED HELP

Postby randal » Mon Jan 23, 2017 6:30 am

Dear friends,
I have a 1943 GMC CCKW 352 short wheel base and open cab that I'm restoring.
It has no cargo bed an I believe that it had a wood bed in the past.
I would like to order a new one but I have only a few references on it.
Is there some post or website that shows drawings, measurements, details etc of its construction?
Here in my country is impossible to find a good bed replacement. But we have good companies on wood bed manufactoring.
I have the ORD-SIP-E4 manual
Thanks a lot.

Other than finding a known WWII production bed and copying it no, there are no original plans.. they have been lost to the sands of time (or in some cabinet somewhere, forgotten).

From the Doyle CCKW book Chevrolet and Yellow Truck both made wood beds, but I doubt that they have plans... or if they did I would doubt if they would release them. They pretty much disowned any WWII involvement for decades.

There is a TUP Wood Bed Assembly manual from http://www.robvanmeel.nl/?q=content/man ... odies-50-p

Not a lot of dimensions, but lots of photos that could help.

Any update on this? I'm curious because my cousin is planning to build a wood bed for his CCKW.
