Cutting a CCKW in half.

In preparation to sell the rear end of the dump truck, I spent the day with dad cutting and moving stuff around. I was surprised to learn that the rear end will support the bed upright, no tipping. Dad said it would hold and damn if he didn't know what he was talking about. Sometimes he gets it right.

To keep the front end upright we fed a 4x4x8 though the floor so the transfer crossmember would rest on it. Works great. Can drag the front end without worry of if falling or tipping.

All in all not a bad day with the tipper. It rained off and on, and I used half my O2 tank cutting things up and off. Will post pics tomorrow if the weather is good enough. I'm still trying to guess the weight of the rear half. The book says a dumper rear end is 3,000+lbs. Not sure if I believe that number. The bed is a few 100, I wonder if the lift subframe and cylinder are 1500-2000lbs? Well see tomorrow.
I got a Mountain Cur and a ~~pitbull~~ big loveable cuddle puppy
