DECALS DONE! ORDER TO BE PLACED!!

Well, it had to happen at some point.

I have tinkered with, applied, corrected, reapplied, re-corrected and about a dozen different variations thereof and have at 0200 10/6/2011 email the FINAL decal to Microserve so they can start the order.

I'm sure Ms. Hayes is glad to be done with me, but the process has been quite enlightening.

I should have the order back in 4-6 weeks and then will send out the sheets to the gentlemen that I owe for pictures of the original.

Pricing etc TBD but I expect a complete sheet (early/late oil filter, air cleaner, oil cleaner, oil pan and valve cover decals) should be less than $25 plus shipping (flat rate USPS envelope is another $4.75, International is $13.95).

This is a low quality image.. ignore the blur.

Have you test fit the oil filter decal to the lid??

Yes, its a perfect fit. The main issue is that you *MUST* trim the decal a little 'wide'. After I corrected the aspect ratio, I was trying to cut the decal out exactly on the black print since the decal sheet was white (it was some of that laser decal paper). And in doing so the bottom arc always looked off because of the white sheet and my poor trimming.

Since the printed decals will be on a clear sheet, you can cut the decal 1/32 or so 'larger' and the black print will be maintained.

Microscale says there is a 4 week lead time so I expect to have decals in hand 2nd week of November (shipping is 3-5 days).

Paul,

When you ordered the AC oil filter decal, was the decal going to be white lettering on a black oval, or is the white clear? The reason I ask is the attached photo shows my original oil filter (G506, not CCKW), when I stripped off the years of grease and grime. You can see the remains of the AC filter decal, which I believe shares the same layout as yours, but is clearly yellow text and logo on a black oval... Just wondering what my options are for making my decal text yellow. If your text is clear, I can simply put a yellow base coat down first. If the text is white, I'll have to look at other options...

Hope you'll forgive my cheesy "colorized" version of your artwork. I just wanted to see if I could identify the make of my oil filter, using my horribly out of focus photo. Looks like a match to me...

I am as certain as I can be its white.

I've been wrong a few times, I might be wrong in the text color, but I think its a safer conclusion to draw that the lid decal and the body decal are the same colors.

The fragment you posted doesn't seem to be an exact match for the oval decal. Could you post larger or clearer images?

And from my research, it seems that most civilian oil filters from the L and S series (dating from 39-46) WERE yellow text, but the larger circle AC type.

This kinda sucks.. I found this:

Looks like a CCKW filter and original decal. Now is this an early issue decal vs a later one?

At least the lid is correct.

But it also calls into question: Is the early round decal also supposed to be yellow/cream colored?

I am almost certain that I've seen the early round one in yellow... Seems like a pretty simple fix, IF your sheets haven't been printed yet.

Since I already have yellow for the valve cover decals it should be easy.

Microscale said there was a 304 week lead time... but I might just pay a fee to get the color corrected.

Crappy part is that I might face 2 screen charges if they already burned them.

Vicky Hayes will be getting a call Monday. Lets hope she's in a good mood.

WOW my luck is unbelievable!

Spoke with Lauren (she does the artwork) and got the AC decal text (both the round and oval) changed from white to yellow. There will be a $40 film charge.... and the film was 1-2 days from being burned on the screen (it was in the queue to be burned).

So crisis averted.. AC filter body decals are yellow.

If there is a patron Saint of CCKWs let them smile upon these decals :)

Probably too late, since you seem to have the same filter body that I've got, You'll know it's a Yellow Logo on the side and silver lettering on the lid,but if You do need some pictures of this I can upload them.Meantime, well done! We all need a sheet of decals

Anything that will further document the parts are more than Welcome? Having only B&W photos to go by, having color pictures of parts that can be used to validate information is mroe than welcome!
