Pressure washer sand blasting TAKE II

Postby pfarber » Wed Jul 03, 2013 8:37 pm

Got the new carbide pressure washer sand blaster.

http://www.ultimatewasher.com/sandblaster.htm (second one down - Medium Duty). The thing is huge... I think to big for my pressure washer. But will give it a try and if its not any better will sell it on ebay, CL or locally.

I hope it works... the ceremic nozzles simply don't last long enough (I'm less than half way through a G506 frame) and at $25+ ship a pop I could burn $150 is nozzles per truck :(

Was able to get some time in using this new sandlbaster. MUCH BETTER. The design is 100% more efficient and it really optimizes the sand. I went through about a quart of gas and 3 5gallon pails of sand. The 25ft 3/4in suction hose worked fine and the pickup tube worked fine and never collapsed. The diameter of the carbide nozzle was large enough to resits any clogging (plus I now sift the sand for debris before I reuse it).

The only thing I wish was different was that the spray pattern of the media is very narrow no matter how far away I was from frame. I was not able to get the blasting 'path' larger than about 3/8ths of an inch.

All in all its a much better sandblaster than the $60 unit

80% of the frame is done!!! There is one small problem with the pressure washer sand blaster... it will not work with the nozzle above horizontal. It must break the suction or some thing... my plan was to raise the rear end of the frame using the front axle as a pivot and shot the bottom of the rail and also the underside of the top flange... but no media is coming out when i point up. Not sure what to do next... I may flip the frame on its side to get it done as I need to take the front axle off anyway.

Not a bad way to spend a day when its 106F out (bank thermometer) by getting doused with cold water... although the sand kinda gets everywhere.
