Two factor authentication

Postby pfarber » Wed Jan 29, 2014 12:00 pm

Initially I really hated the two factor crap that I inadvertently turned on for some goolge stuff I had to use. PITA... can't log in until you type in a code you get via txt.

But I'm reading way to many accounts of tech support people allowing evil doers access to legit accounts by gaming the system. On one hand two factor authentication could help stop malicious activity, but anyone who has any idea how cell phones work know its only to trivial for a 3 letter agency (I'm talking about FBI/CIA) to simply request a password reset, monitor your EIN for SMS messages and intercept it.

I recently added it on some accounts that are semi important and it might help stop certain malicious activity... but I would not consider it on a daily use account... way to much of a hassle. But for banking web sites, utility payment web sites, or anything that deals with money I would definitely enable it.
