Doing some reading and found that you can EASILY make the 216 valve cover fit over the 235 valve train... so from 10 ft away the motor looks original (well, the top part does)

Remove the 2 studs that retain the rocker arms/valve cover on your 216 and use them to replace the 2 bolts in the later engine in that location and you’re done and can mount the old cover on the later engine. The rocker arm assembly is likely different and this page shows the different kits available depending on year:
