Just got a governor in the mail today... NOS and still in the cosmoline death wrap.

Check out this label:

Sweet mother of baby Jesus that's awesome. I think there is a date stamped on the flange : 7 45

Its a proper Chevy part per the SNL.. on the non-PCV engines. Has the ports for the dist and carb vacuum lines, just not drilled and tapped.

Here's the stamping on the cover:

I think this is a date code.. not sure... but the governor on my CCKW has marking (8 43) so its a good guess at what it means:

Here are the untapped vacuum ports: carb and dist:

Lastly the box had two extra covers for the RPM adjuster. One is a simple cap with GM, the other is vented. The cap installed (and lockwired) has holes for the lockwire and has 'FASTER' stamped, with an arrow pointing CCW.

Similar.

This was the outer wrapper with cosmoline and waxed paper:

It did have 'Repacked' label, but I threw it away as it tore as I tried to remove it to keep. After the cosmoline/wax paper the above shows the box.

This is the only other marking.. on each end flap:

This is what the seller said.. evidently he had/has a carton of them:

Writing on the box is as follows, PACKED BY CHEVROLET, 1 GOVERNOR ASSY, GO85, 3002755, CV3661182.

This box you see in these pictures was packed inside a larger box. The larger box was dated July 26, 1945. That is the date the box pictured was wax sealed. It is still sealed, unopened, as it was when packed in 1945, just a few days before the Atom Bomb was dropped on Japan.
