Re: Camshaft Bearings
Yes the bearing are the correct ones but are NOS. I know most modern engines you do not have to size the bearings. What brand of bearing have you used? Did they have to be sized?

Camshaft Bearings
Was getting ready to assemble my engine and was going through the manual first and noticed the cam bearings needed to be reamed. I checked the ID on the new bearings and sure enough the diameter is too small for the cam to fit. Have talked to my machinist and all others withing a reasonable distance ...

Re: Correct oilpan/tappet cover screws needed
More info and more questions. After going over my manuals again and looking at several late 40's civilian GMC engines I have the following to add. All pictures in manuals prior to the April 44 edition of TM9-801 show either the phillips or straight pan head screw. I do have a copy of TM10-1268 from ...

Not sure where you have found these but I have not been able to locate them locally or on the web. Yes, it is easy to fine a similar fastener but not the correct one. It you have a source please list.

Still looking for some of these screws. Here are some pics to help identify. Prefer the phillips version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Engine B&W scan from TM9-1802A
Thanks for the info. My truck is after those serial numbers (frame 298539-B2) and and the two engines I have are 270442893 (removed from the truck listed). This engine is clearly the wet olive and had the unpainted pan. It is a European return so it is very possible that the pan was damaged and ...

Re: Engine B&W scan from TM9-1802A
You questioned the color difference on the oil pan. I am not sure if the oil pan was painted at all. I have two trucks dated 11/43 and 1/44 and neither have any trace of paint on the oil pans. The metal does appear to have had some type of corrosion protection. What is the possibility of them being ...

Re: Deep sump?
Both of my trucks have the deep sump and it is the only pan referenced in the July 1943 TM 9-1802A Power Plant.

Re: ENGINE PAINT... SOLVED!!!
I too thought that the correct color is the medium green (close to British Racing Green or a wet olive) until I started disassembling the engines in my two current trucks.
