Got a 35% off promo code from Advance Auto. That means 35% off a new fuel pump (a NEW pump is going to cost me the same as a rebuild kit would have) plus free shipping.

That's $42 off!!! About the only bad thing is that the pump may not have the AC logo cast into it.

Evidently these are NEW production:

Airtex mechanical fuel pumps are the only mechanical fuel pumps manufactured in the USA. These pumps are precision-cast units designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications and are built with enhanced, long-lasting components.

Product Features:

Special heat treated rocker arms and case-hardened pins to ensure long-lasting performance
Upgraded seals and pump diaphragms for compatibility with modern multi-fuel blends
Every single pump is 100% tested throughout the entire manufacturing process for worry free, out-of-the-box performance

50% off for ratchet wrenches! These are nice to have. But if it came down to the solid wrench vs the ones with the pivoting head, I would get the pivoting head.

Well this took a shitty turn. Fuel pump shows up and I head out to the garage to install it. And I find this:

Evidently it was dropped then boxed and sent to me. I would have used it, but the bent tube was lose, and since its on the vacuum side that means no vacuum for the wipers.

So I go to Advance Auto (as per the return instructions) and ask them to send me another as this was obviously damaged.

The lady at the counter tells me that there is a difference that I have to pay. What? They can only refund me the cost of the pump, then sell me another pump at FULL RETAIL PRICE. I said no, I want a warranty return. Not sure what happened but they could not adjust the price of the new pump to the price of the original. So I tell them to refund my money and I will buy a rebuild kit. So they refund me $72. I paid $84. I asked why I was not given the full amount back. Its not tax, its not shipping, its just $12 less. The lady at the counter then gave me the difference in cash from the drawer.

So I was screwed out of a new pump, and will be rebuilding the old.
