Just add a few more shafts and gears and take away those pesky synchro's and POW! CCKW tranny!
One thing that is kind of muddy is at the end.. downshifting to stop. The Army policy was to 'descend a hill in the same gear your ascended and use the brakes, do not downshift'. A loaded CCKW is going to be much harder and the drive line than a car. And replacing brakes is much quicker than an damaged engine or busted transmission.
