What the Frack.. New Epson Printer dies

So go to print some tax forms on my just over 1 month old Epson WF-7610 13x19 scanner/printer.

Print look like shit. Clean the heads and align them.. but the manual does not give any indication of what a 'proper' alignment printout should look like.

I call Epson and they say clean and print alignment. OK. So they explain to me that I need to select the box in each row that has no bands (they never explain what to look for, or give a 'proper' example). I tell the guy on the phone they all look the same, all have large white lines. We go back and forth, and he has me do a color copy to verify the print (to make sure its not a software setting on my PC). I explain the print is double, ghosting, not straight.. he does not believe me. I tell him that I will scan the page and email it to him... he asks me to do another head alignment printout... and it still looks the same.... So now he wants a detailed explination, and I go into detail for him... no box is solid, they all have lines, every color etc etc etc.

Bottom line, new printer is being sent to me. Just after I had a blow up with the HP printer. ANOTHER printer screws up. Scanning is flawless.. fast and has a HUGE scan area... but the printer kinda don't print.

Now the RMA'd printer was installed and the fracking thing never got past the inital setup before it threw a 0x9D error code. From the questions that I was asked on the phone it appears that this error is related to the carriage positioning as they asked me to make sure the carriage was not still taped down and that nothing was in the way of the carriage.

So now I have 1 printer going back tomorrow, and a new (well refurbished) printer ALSO showing up tomorrow (evidently when you get a DOA printer it goes out next day). Gotta wonder how much profit is left after TWO RMA'd printers and shipping (at their cost) two 50lb printers all over the planet.

The printer is awesome.. the 13x19 format is just perfect for small print shops.. so I'll still want one even if I have to go to another store and buy one.

New printer arrived a few days ago.. I let is sit as I had to work... but in the last few days I have been beating the ADF up pretty hard scanning AM's.

When the thing works is a beast. I give EPSON support mad props for resolving the issue, and even OVERNIGHTING a 50lb printer to me! As a double bonus, the printer (although refurbished) came with NEW EPSON XL ink carts.. that (retail) like $60 right there.

So long HP...
