Compressor magnetic switch

Postby pfarber » Sun May 29, 2016 2:20 pm

After ruining my 3rd pressure switch (the contacts arc together) I decided its time for a magnetic switch (aka big ass relay) to keep the 40+ amps from welding the next switch shut.

Got one off Amazon for $65 and did the whole 'up to code' thing. All told It was about $140 for everything. Saved a ton by going to the local electrical supply and getting 20ft of 10-3 vs buying a 50foot box from local big box. Hardest part getting the 10g wire into the right spots... needle nose plies are my new best friend.

Bonus is now that I have a convenient on/off switch on the mag start vs having to dick with the lever on the pressure switch. I know, first world problems.
I got a Mountain Cur and a ~~pitbull~~ big loveable cuddle puppy
