Most of us are aware of the constant stream of updates that get fed to our PCs/Laptops.
But have you ever remembered to update your t.v. or blue ray player?
I have a Sony V5100 and the HDMI quality of the PC screens was poor and the auto-dim feature would make dark movie scenes almost pitch black.
Fed up with it (and ruining my favorite episode of Firefly via HULU+) I googled the 'solution' for the auto dim 'feature'. The solution? A software update that is applied to the t.v. via a software patch and a USB drive. Took all of 3 minutes and my PC HDMI is crystal clear and the auto dim doesn't. yay for me!
I had to install firmware updates on both my parents and two previous Blu-Ray players of mine... Netflix Blu-Ray disks were not working and after the 3rd disk I knew it had to be the players.
As these infernal gadgets rule our lives most are not perfect and will need an update from time to time. Visit the manufacturers web site and see if a new version of firmware is available and load it up. My OK t.v. is not a great t.v. now that the two most irritating problems are now fixed.
