SCOUR THE INTERWEBS

Half the fun of restoring an MV is the search for parts.

Just this week I scored some parts online (private sales in car forums, ebay, Craigslist) that would have cost double or triple (or more) if I went through (ugg...) a vendor or another MV owner.

QMC marked Schrader tire gauge
Schrader valve caps
paint
canvas seat covers
Cargo bed top bows

That's the haul from just ONE week.

You still gotta hit the MV shows because of the off chance the you do get a good deal from a person selling what you really need... but for some reason MV owners think that just because they bought the part, they HAVE to mark it up 2x-3x before they sell it (and most don't sell).

Here's a GREAT example.

I just bought an 1968 M105a2 trailer for $275 with cargo racks and bows. Try and find anyone in the 'MV hobby' that is selling that same trailer for less than $700.

Shop around.... and don't be TO greedy (a little greed is good. TO much makes you look like a fool who doesn't know WTF they are talking about).
