Craftsman Valve Spring Compressor
| Sears Item# 00947627000 | Model# 47627

I am in the middle of a top end (well, in an L head I guess its called a 'side end?') rebuild (new valves, valve guides, springs) and needed to compress the spring to get the valve keepers off. Yes, there is a specific tool for that, but since almost every other jeep person is also looking for one they can get quite spendy.

The Craftsman Valve Spring Compressor | Sears Item# 00947627000 | Model# 47627 works GREAT and is all of $20 ($17.99 + tax) PLUS its got the LIFETIME Craftsman Warranty. BONUS!

Its not going to do anything for a CCKW, but for a jeep its the bomb yo.

Got through the valve work. I did change the fingers on the compressor from the installed bent ones to the straight ones supplied with the kit. The straight fingers work much better at the front/rear springs.

I did all the work with the engine installed and it worked fine.

The ONLY drawback is that the steps used to lock the compressor in place were chromed. That chrome will flake off and fall into your engine. It would have been better if they left those notches bare, or some other kind of coating.

Other than that its a good deal for $20
