CCKW UK Photo Blog

Postby Vulture » Fri Sep 07, 2012 5:43 am

Hi everyone
I've created a photo blog to record the GMC CCKWs seen in the UK. http://cckwphotoblog.blogspot.co.uk/
As I post this I'm up to 95 vehicles logged. If you have one, and would like to display it on there, or simply have some photos (of UK vehicles) you would like to share, please either post them here or get in contact direct with me
Kind regards to all

Very impressive!

It would be great if frame SN's were included with the photos... at 300+ CCKWs that has to be the largest photo collection on the internet.

As you have already started to do, culling your submissions for data would be invaluable.

I'm also going to have to rethink my estimate of how many CCKWs are still left. I had figured around 1,000. If you found 300+ just in the UK then the number seems more like 2,000-3,000 CCKWs worldwide is a much closer number.

At with only 11 wooden body CCKWs on your list I'm even more excited that I was able to get a wooden body for my mid 43 truck. And that if I ever see a fuel tanker for sale snap it up... them's is rare as hens teeth.

Good work!

HI Paul

Yes, I reckon by the time you discount the foreign trucks, those scrapped, and the duplicates that will exist in 100 odd vehicles that I don't have reg numbers for, your probably looking at around 300 vehicles like you say.

I shall try and add details where I can, but reckon I've almost come to the end of adding UK trucks now.

As I'm a real sucker for punishment I'm now going to try and pull together a European listing (excluding UK trucks)... LOL

Yes like you I find the mix of vehicles to be fascinating.

Kind regards
