yes, I crapped a cracker when I saw this:

Technical Bulletin, TB 9-2830-26, 44.
Reclamation of Chevrolet and GMC Hub Adjusting Nut and Oil Seal Assemblies, 3 pages.
PB 48330 - BSIR 4(4):330; 01/24/47

Now how to order a copy from the Library of Congress..... I bet that's gonna be cheap, easy and fast

Got an email asking if this is a post war process.

Well, what I can say is that this:

Technical Bulletin, TB 9-2830-26, 44.

Appears to mean that the published year is 1944.

This:

PB 48330 - BSIR 4(4):330; 01/24/47

Decodes to PB code 48330 (I don't know what PB means) BSIR is the name of the library, 4(4):330 is something like volume/chapter/page and 01/24/47 is the date it was added to the BSIR, not the publication date.

Its all explained if you read the link.

Since the only banjo axles I have are for the Chevy I'll update the search in this form.

Here is the actual BSIR entry for the TM:

I'm not really sure of the process, but I have located the L.O.C. building where the BSIR indexes are kept, I am not sure if that is where they also keep the film or if that will have to be brought up from one of the outlying repositories.

Either way I'm gonna get a copy of that sucker.... hopefully I won't get shot while in D.C.

Here's the BSIR listing cover page, and the page that shows the TB was in fact, entered:

So I went to the Pottsville Library to try and get more info on the BSIR and the TB.

Evidently my explanation of my previous searches (both at Military Libraries, State Libraries, and Universities) meant little the them because she mechanically typed in the name of the TB. After nothing came back (as I knew it wouldn't) they googled it. Yes. As I was explaining the hours of searching to them, they typed in the TB number into GOOGLE. The *HILARIOUS* part was they got hits back. She lit up and said 'Here's something!' As I looked at the screen I laughed IT WAS MY OWN WEB SITE. I said yeah, that's my web site. Scroll down and you'll the EXACT SAME PAPER IN YOUR HAND is the one on the screen. The entire first page was TM9-801.com forum posts. hahahahaha

So I kept on explaining, hopeing that I might hit upon the magic word that would show her that I did my 'homework' and that its not gonna be as easy as a google search "Do you know how to request microfilm from the Library of Congress? That's going to be the only place that would have it that is readily available".

So I get a 'let me look into some more things'. That was Wednesday. So.... I bet I will have to burn a few days time in DC at the L.O.C. learning how that place works.
