Odd CCKW bed

Post by pfarber »

Yeah, the Stewart is neat, but look at the CCKW in the red box.

Extended bow stakes and the rear portion of the troop seats are cut off. When I got my M35a2 they did the same thing, the first 'section' of the troop seats were cut off. My guess is to make it easy to get stuff into/out of the bed without opening the flaps.

Perhaps a kitchen truck?? I've read about extended bows so that cook staff could work inside the truck, while standing up. I've seen pics where they reversed the troop seats (ie pu the seats to the outside) so they could use them as serving shelves for the troops.

Good call!

There are pictures of the machine shop CCKW (forget the G-number) with the seats on the 'outside'.

Man if I could only find 3 of those ovens!
