Original Radiator decoded / disassembled

Post by pfarber »

I have two of the three radiators out. Here is the tag from the radiator out of the 41:

The tag is decoded: first two digits: year of manufacturer. Then the part number:

Here is the tag from the radiator from the 43:

This kinda give the info I have about the trucks even more credibility... the 41 is looking more 41-ish and the 43 is looking more like a 43.

Re: Original Radiator tags decoded

Got the core out of the shell. Working on the 41 now. The top and bottom tanks are looking good. The tubes and fins are also in good shape. Filled it with about 1.5 gallons of water and it held. The only dribble was from around the radiator cap.

Here is the side support. They are rotted at the bottom... so I simply heated one and took it off. Looks like silver solder.

Seems pretty simply to make another one... only two parts.

This one will be pressure tested and have a fan shroud installed (if it passes). Will either be a back up sold.
