My guess is that this is the Lend Lease info. It jives with "During World War II, The U.S. sent 151,053 1.5-ton trucks of the G506 type to Russia as part of the Lend Lease program. Russian supply capability improved dramatically in the spring and summer of 1943, mainly as the result of the American trucks that were arriving in large numbers."

But that does not leave us any Hey.. that means all my trucks were in Russia! I will name them Natalya, Tatiana and Anastasia.

Not entirely it seems. One of the sources just listed is the SNL G506 from June 1945. There is a section on page 290 that lists by registration number 2,146 cargo less winch and cargo w/ winch trucks; and then mentions an additional 783 trucks that were built "using earlier material". I presume this is a reference to trucks that were built under new military contracts, but used stocks of earlier "civilian" parts.

the reference you mention about lend-lease trucks mentions the 1.5 ton trucks, but doesn't actually say they were all Chevy. Dodge was also listed as a supplier, and might have supplied 1.5 ton (6x6) trucks too.

I don't know Chevy production numbers, but a TOTAL run of 155k seems way to small for all the Chevy's running around now... and also considering that 150k went to Lend Lease.

There had to be significantly more.. heck GM even printed a post war owners manual for when they were surplussed... I can't see them doing that for just a few hundred vehicles.

But I do agree that posting that list without any source simply muddies the waters.
