I'm just getting into fountain pens and I must say that gouletpens.com have some top notch sales/service. My first fountain pen (a Pilot Metropolitian) is not a super expensive pen but well reviewed for 'entry level' and comes with a converter for refills... for a whopping $15.
I've always heard horror stories about leaky pens, poor writing etc, but so far I have not had many issues. Since I am not using the grip of death to make a ball point write my penmanship has improved greatly.
As a lefty, I had to get quick drying ink... and gouletpens.com had that also. I also ordered a Bauer pen (typical Chinese knockoff pen).

The difference in writing with a fountain pen is like night and day.

Re: Fountain pens
The Baoer 388 Fountain Pen I ordered off ebay showed up today. Not a bad pen (like I know a bad one from a good one) for less than $8 delivered.
The main complaint about the 388 is the cap and how tight it is... mine is also pretty snug.. no big deal.. I'm a manly man.

Comes with a screw type converter... again, not a bad deal... you can find ink for $5

I'm really liking the fountain pens... no more death grip to mash a ball point into the paper. Filling the pen was a no brainer. I rather like taking the converter out of the pen and filling it vs dipping the nib and grip into the ink.. much easier and cleaner.
