Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!

Ok.. this one was a little bit of a dangerous choice. I mean a 19 year old guy 'adopts' 3 young girls after their parents die in a plane crash. So I start watching the first episode and the first thing I think is "Please don't be ecchi!". Whew.... so far so good. But still it's a Japanese anime with young girls... there still many more hurdles to overcome.... my next thought was "dear God please don't be henti!" Ok, 10 minutes in and nothing bad has happened. Its starting to look like a possibly decent show.. characters getting background, animation is good.... but wait... "please don't be a harem or loli show!" after the first episode I relax as none of that has materialized. It was a close one you weird Japanese bastards. To be honest there is a bit of fan service.... and while some episodes do get a HULU 'Mature Audience' rating that means little... basically PG-13.

Remember, in Japan jumping into a bath tub with nekkid strangers is a thing (they are called onsens and I plan to go to one this year on my trip to Japan). So culturally I can't deduct points for that. It IS a Japanese show and the cartoon boobs are edited for our weak American brains that cannot stand the sight of a nipple. So if cartoon nipples scare you then you might want to pass. But honestly the show is very good, the fan service is limited and the characters really develop well and the story is well thought out and ends well. The light novels and manga cover things in more detail, as each character gets their own manga series.

Most of the anime revolves around Sora and how, with the help of her sister, Miu, help Hina (the step-sister and only direct relative of Yuuta the main male protagonist). Sora portrays herself as the main pillar of three... but at times relies on Miu to set her straight and also for some teasing about her crush on Yuuta. So as they grow closer things like honesty and consideration are main arcs. Miu and Sora have to travel 1.5 hours each way to school yet never complain. Not really unusual, and while they complain about it privately, they never burden Yuuta with this small problem as he has to go do school and work multiple jobs to support them.

Shit happens, the end. hahahaha

Really, its a good story. Kinda shows how shitty Japanese people can be. I mean neither side of the girls' families give monetary support, or even help out. Sure they 'live far away' but god damn, chip in to pay the rent you cheap fucks. But that would take away the drama of Yutta's struggle.

It's a good series, short enough to do quickly and long enough to be enjoyable. Its on HULU subbed.

There are two OVA's. One is basically light fan service (aka boob jokes. What is it with Japanese girls padding their bra's/swimsuits?).

But the ending is nice and puts another happy ending to the show.

There is a second OVA released March 2015 that I cannot find online... but is supposed to cover Chapter 18 of the manga SPOILER ALERT!!!!

And show Yuuta and Sora getting married 5 years into the future. Since Sora and Yutta are not related by blood, its kinda iffy when looked at it from western morals.. but hey, its a Japanese show.
