WWII Reenavtor (on Proboards)

Postby pfarber » Fri Jun 19, 2009 4:45 pm

At times at work I have down time.. so I read the 'Terms of Use' of other sites to see how power mongering they can be.

Read this from the knuckleheads at:

http://ww2reenactors.proboards.com/inde ... hread=3747
(Which appears to be an infomercial for What Price Glory)
I give you this doozie:

6. Do not post the same topic more than once.

I guess you need to make ONE REALLY LONG post that can cover any possible question... because your second post will get you labeled as a spammer.

Whats funny is that rule #5 is:

5. Opinions are welcomed here

Your SINGLE opinion is welcome.... after that shut up. WOW.....

And I *RARELY* post there... I have better things to do that deal with forum-mod nazi's.

Here's another GEM from the FAQ page:

Their decisions are final and non-negotiable. They are not required to give reasons as to why they deleted a post or thread. I trust their decisions, therefore, we do not discuss what we delete and why. So I am giving fair warning right now - If you send me or any staff member a PM asking why your post, reply, thread was deleted, it may/will be ignored.

But WAIT... what about rule #5 again:

Elitism of any kind will not be tolerated on this forum.

hahahahahahaha Rodge that.. can the elitism.

What's so funny about that. They made the rules, conform or find another site.

Well, to follow the rules one must know what they are.

Those rules should also be easy to understand and somewhat fair.

Limiting people to posting ONE REPLY PER TOPIC is easy to understand, but completely illogical.

Plus they appear to not be enforcing it. As I have 'spammed' a forum by (OH NOES!) POSTING TWICE!!!

Ditto for the 'elitism' part. How can you define it, to the letter, then have EVER MOD ON THE BOARD break it?

I'm sure they are a good bunch of guys... but don't blame the messenger (me) for their IDIOTIC rules.

Also they have the 'unwritten' rule that a topic MAY ONLY BE DISCUSSED ONCE. EVER. Go ahead an make a post about a topic that has been discussed.. I DARE YOU. I know what happens.... one of the MANY reasons people generally avoid that forum (I have to be pretty damned bored to post on the site anyway).

If everyone is hugging and kissing and not debating a topic what could you possibly learn? Sometimes you have to throw the bullshit flag and call someone out loud and clear.

Great people and great ideas are not the result of the status quo... but from the desire to achieve and step ahead of ones peers and the status quo.

If you do not like the way they operate the site, get over it.
