engine ID

Can anyone help me identify my engine? It's in a 1942 G-506 The number stamped on the machined pad by the dist. is SR3928804 and the casting numbers on the right side of the block are GM 202 and below that is 839253, as always Best Regards and TY JCM

From the numbers you list these are not WWII 216 or 235 casting numbers according to this list (NOTE: I have no idea who or what made this list)

The casting number 839253 appears to be a Canadian 1940-1945 Block (info I have from David Hayward). I have a unique Canadian only casting # on my 1938 216. Apparently GM Canada had 2 engine plants. The one in Oshawa produced casting numbers the same as the US. The one in the Windsor area (Walkerton maybe?) used a different casting number.
The G506 oil pan is the dead give away.

But the SN would be the best way.
