Good try, Best Buy

Found an open box UPS at local BB. Good deal, $60 under retail 'excellent' condition.

Pay online, go to store. Take it out the box and instantly realized that something was wrong.

First, even though the UPS was 'used' the plastic cap on the end of the power cord was still on... like NEW, never removed on. Spidey senses tingle. Flip it over, the single black screw that hold the battery cover in place has tool marks. Great. Pull out my leatherman and open the battery compartment... take out battery an find a 3rd party batter. Goggled the name and all I get are ebay listings.

Told the saleslady that I want a refund, this is not the original battery. Manager comes over for the return. I said a new battery is $45 (a legit manufacturers battery) and if they lowered the price to match the cost of the battery (I showed them the online listing) I would still take it. Nope.

I told them its a pretty shitty move to try and resell a known bad battery as 'excellent' and 'all accessories are included'. Well, except that dead battery from a third party.

Good luck to the next guy who's not watching out for scams.
