G506 wood bed

Post by Mole »

Can anyone post photos of the bed floor? And if it's not too much trouble, give the measurements of the width of the boards?

Thanks for the help.

I have a wood and a composite bed... the width of the floor boards seems to be random... some are 10, others are 12, some are 8.

When making a repair, the Battalion Carpenter would simply cut to fit.

I kept a few of the originals that I took off the composite bed.. they were all rusted and most snapped in two.

The only issue I know of is that modern bolts will have casting numbers (head markings to tell you the bolt strength etc.. IIRC.... originals are plain) on the heads. Also the very wide & flatter headed bolts are going to be hard to find. Carriage bolts not a problem.. those wide headed ones... a bit of a problem.

I will scan a page that has the bolts shown.
