Note the CCKW front end just after the row of motorcycles on the left. The frame just aft of the cab looks like its been removed, and the rear axles are in the center.
It also appears that a DUKW is in the background.

The GMC in question is angled away from the photographer and the frame partially obscured by soldiers . It can be seen jutting out past them in a lower than normal postion with the l/h bumperette at the extremity.
The Dodge 3/4 ton with the jib mounted in the back is interesting. I would like to know how it was secured.

That crane is most likely a field mod. Many different expedient lifting apparatus are detailed in several issues of Army Motors. One that I remember clearly was mounted on the front of the 3/4ton dodge for light maint... the unit said it was so much easier to use because the driver could see the load to lift rather than being 20 ft behind them when using a Wrecker Set No 7 to lift.
