The metal stamping on the positive pole can be removed. I have two actually. One has a smooth lacquer surface the other has a textured surface. Would this be an early/late thing? The smooth painted coil also has a decal AMPCO Products. The textured one has no decal.

It looks close.

Well, define "proper". I presume that's what you meant?? The parts manual lists it as a DR1115149, indicating it was mfg by Delco Remy. It should have a white porcelain bottom (see page 144 and again on page 164 in the same manual you looked at). Not to say others won't work!

I can make the porcelain white. :D

I did see one with a white tip, but it was cracked.
